Extensive research on learning behaviour led American psychologist Carol Dweck to coin the terms growth mindset and fixed mindset to describe underlying beliefs people have about learning and intelligence.

MEANING OF GROWTH MINDSET AND FIXED MINDSET

People with a growth mindset believe that they can develop their ability through hard work and effort. They always have an approach of ‘what can I do better next time’ ‘ how can I improve’. These people have the urge and self-initiative to know, explore, think, and learn more.

People with a fixed mindset believe that their abilities are finite. They consider themselves either intelligent, talented, mediocre, or worthless.
